Course Learning Objectives/Outcomes

By the end of the course, the Counselor, Marriage and Family Therapist, Social Worker or Psychologist will be able to:
-Explain what is important to understand when analyzing violent extremism.
-Explain a complex process that has been shown to vary by the extremist ideologies individuals embrace, the time periods in which they radicalize, the groups or movements they join, and individuals’ own characteristics and experiences.
-Name the Potential Risk Factors Associated With Engaging or Attempting to Engage in Terrorism Among Lone-Actor Terrorists in the U.S.
-NOMS identified 22 general risk factors for engaging in extremist crime (which includes but is not limited to terrorism). These factors are related to three dimensions. Name the three dimensions.
-Overall, the research sponsored to date by NIJ has provided important insights into the potential risk factors and indicators associated with engaging or attempting to engage in terrorism, but much work still remains to be done. Name six examples that need to be done.
-Explain why Mental Health Services important in Countering Violent Extremism.
-Explain what is expected from law enforcement officers, Teachers, and Mental health professionals in efforts to diminish violent extremism and terrorism.
-Explain how to reduce your perfectionism behaviors.
